School - Parent Compact

  In support of strengthening student academic achievement, Robbins Elementary School and the parents of students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, (Public Law 114-95 Section 116 (b) and (c) of the Every Student Succeeds Act), agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards. The school-parent compact is in effect during the 2024-2025 school year.

School Responsibilities

The Robbins Elementary staff will:

  1. Provide high-quality instruction and curriculum in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the Tennessee Academic Standards as follows:
    • use pacing guides to follow the standards
    • continually teach and assess student learning to adjust instruction
    • differentiate to meet the ability levels of students, arrange for students to receive the appropriate intervention programs, and provide students with qualified, certified staff and highly qualified instructional assistants.
  2. Hold parent-teacher conferences at least twice during the school year.
    • Semi-annual Parent Teacher Conferences held in October and March
  3. Provide parents with frequent reports on their child’s progress
    • Parent and student online access to PowerSchool, which provides immediate updates to attendance grades, etc.
    • Mid-point progress reports provided every 4 ½ weeks
    • Formal report cards in all grades provided every nine weeks
  4. Provide parents reasonable access to staff during non-instructional time.
    • Teachers are available throughout the school year for parent conferences during their planning time.
    • Parents have access to Remind to communicate with teachers, however, teachers are unable to answer messages during instruction time or after school hours.
    • When contacting teachers, if a teacher us unavailable, they will return the parent call within 24 hours.
  5. Provide parents opportunities to volunteer in their child’s class, at the teacher’s discretion, or observe school activities
    • Volunteer opportunities may include but are not limited to attending field trips, Family Engagement Nights, scheduled classroom visits, field days, classroom parties, etc.

 

Parent/Guardian Responsibilities

The parent/guardians will support the child’s learning in the following ways:

  • Ensure that the student arrives to school each day, on time, and ready to learn
  • Sign report cards, progress reports, and weekly folders (if applicable)
  • Review homework assignments and offer assistance as needed
  • Make every effort to attend parent-teacher conferences
  • Demonstrate interest in the student’s well-being by attending school functions, supporting the student’s school activities, and attending the family engagement events when possible.
  • Staying informed about the child’s education and communicating with the school by promptly reading all notices from the school and responding, as appropriate

Student Responsibilities

The student will share the responsibility to improve academic achievement in the following ways:

  • Arriving to school on time and ready to learn each day
  • Completing his/her homework every day and asking for help when needed
  • Being responsible for his/her own learning
  • Do his/her best at school
  • Completing make-up work (when applicable) and turning it in
  • Follow the school rules and behavior expectations
  • Ensuring parents/guardians receive all notices and information sent home by the school and/or classroom teacher
